HEPCOMOTION SURFACE CLEANING IN GAS INDUSTRY DLS3

Linear positioning systems were needed on six new gas burners heading for Chile. The systems would clean and activate container surfaces prior to surface treatment and painting.

Solution

A DLS3 standard system approximately 4m long x 1m wide.  The principal design concept for the Servo-controlled system is based on an aluminium space frame configuration, which facilitates the reciprocation movement of the burners back and forth.

The Hepco DLS3 system comprises belt-driven linear modules, an AC motor/inverter package and a range of compact planetary gearboxes for use with servomotors.

Options include a cantilever axis with lightweight beam, plus couplings and connecting shafts for units used in parallel. Inherent quality is dictated by a hardened and precision ground slideway, double row cap sealed bearings for long system life and low maintenance, a polyurethane steel-reinforced belt for minimum stretch and high speed capability, and quiet, trouble-free operation from proven V-bearing technology.

Scope of Supply

2 x DLS3 Linear Actuators

For obvious reasons we don’t want the units breaking down so we always specify high quality component systems on our burners. We use top of the range servomotors and likewise with regard to the Hepco linear actuators – we know they last, even in harsh operating conditions.”

Result

The six burners are now mid-Atlantic on their way to South America. Once they arrive, Rapidflame technicians will visit the factory in Chile to undertake installation and commissioning. The burners also use HepcoMotion® cam followers.

Rapidflame is now actively looking to market the systems built for Chile to the rest of industry, particularly the automotive sector – in fact, any manufacturer processing large sheet or plates that require finishing. Any subsequent burners produced will all feature Hepco technology.
